Grade Components
Madison Historical Society Project 10 points [grade partially determined by MHS assessment of quality of student participation Portfolios including all seminar assignments & quality of web presentation 60 points Networking results 15 points [including assessments by guests at networking reception] Final Exam Formal presentation of web-based portfolios with peer evaluation 15 points Participation 10 points deducted from total points for each unexcused absence attendance at all sessions [no more than one excused absence allowable] Discussion Leaders - Students will assume the role of discussion leaders for one session by initiating questions to speakers for a designated session [leaders will be randomly assigned by Professor Murphy] Student Guests - Please bring to each seminar session at least two written questions to ask the guest speaker, written on a 4 x 6 note card, indicating your name, the date and the speakers name; hand card in to the Student Assistant, before the end of the class -- consistent participation in the discussions is essential Resource List Utilization - Illustrate through discussion that resource information is being read; share with class additional resources identified that may be added to seminar resource list. Regularly email new resource details to Professor. |
