Biographies
William D. sPrimus,
President and CEO William D. Primus is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Urban League of Morris County. Mr. Primus is very dedicated and instrumental to the League’s mission to enable African Americans and other minorities to secure economic self-reliance, parity and power, and civil rights; and to assist any residents of the County desirous of improving their quality of life. Mr. Primus received his Bachelors Degree, Political Science & Sociology from Livingstone College, Salisbury, NC, and received his Masters Degree, City & Regional Planning and Design from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY. Other accomplishments include: Associate Administrator, DC General Hospital, Washington, DC; Senior Vice President Health Corporation Archdiocese of Newark, NJ; Deputy Executive Director, Regional Health Planning Council (Essex, Morris, Sussex, Union, Warren Counties); Director, Program Planning and Development, Division of Human Rights (Rockefeller Administration), State of New York; Research & Land Use Planner (Cahill Administration), Department of Community Affairs State of New Jersey. Academic Affiliations: Adjunct Professor and Guest Lecturer on Public Policy and Planning at: University of Maryland; Columbia University; Rutgers University, Pratt Institute, Hunter College; Jersey City State College; Essex County College. Community and Government Affairs include: Chairman of Governors Commission on Discrimination in Employment, Purchasing and Contracts (Whitman & DiFrancesco Administrations); Vice Chairman (Board of Health, Madison); Commissioner/Chairman (Housing Authority, Madison; Board Chairman (Partnership for Housing, Washington, DC; Board of Directors (United Way); Board/Executive Committee (Newark Museum); and Borough Council (Madison, NJ). Professional Affiliations include American Management Association; American Market Association; American Society of Planning Officials, and the National Association of Health Services Executives. Awards, Honors and Fellowships include Ford Foundation Fellowship, Urban American Fellowship – (to study new town development in England, France, Denmark, Finland, Sweden) and the USSR); Jaycees, Distinguished Man of the Year; Housing Authority’s Distinguished Service Award; Distinguished Public Servant Award, Boy Scouts of America, Lifetime Achievement Award.
